Building Science
Building Science is an evolving body of knowledge that focuses on the analysis and control of the physical variables that affect buildings. It includes the analysis of building materials, fire protection, sound control, as well as heat and moisture concerns. Its purpose is to optimize a building’s performance and prevent its failures. At Vital Habitats, we’re very committed to and involved with the study and practice of building science. With our experience and academic engineering background, we’re able to thoroughly understand this evolving discipline, and apply it judiciously and cost-effectively to all of our construction projects. For example, for several years now, we’ve been studying the use of rain screens , constructing them and recommending them to our clients. Recently, rain screens have become standard practice in the industry, and are now required by code in Canada.
